About Chango BJJ
Chango BJJ was built around a simple idea:
Martial arts should be challenging, practical, and welcoming to everyone.
We believe great training and a positive environment should exist together. Whether someone is stepping onto the mat for the first time or has years of experience, the goal is the same: help people improve through consistent, honest training.

Story
The name became a community.
The name "Chango" comes from a nickname given to Chris by Carlson Gracie Sr.
Over time, that name became attached to more than just a gym. It became a community built around hard work, welcoming people, and creating an environment where students genuinely enjoy training together.
Today, Chango BJJ continues to grow through the culture inside the academy and the people who help shape it every day.
Bio
Chris keeps the focus on the room.
Chris has trained in martial arts for more than 40 years, beginning with judo before continuing into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
His teaching style focuses on making high-quality training approachable to beginners while still giving experienced students room to grow.
Rather than building the academy around achievements or status, the focus has always been on creating a strong culture and helping students develop confidence, skill, and consistency through training.
